Leona LaurenLeona Louise Lewis, born on 3 April 1985 is an actor an activist, singer and actress of British origin. Born and raised within the London Borough of Islington, she went to The BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology located in Croydon. Lewis gained national attention in the final series of The X Factor in 2006, winning the PS1 million recording deal with Syco Music. The winner's single in the contest, which was a cover Kelly Clarkson's hit song "A Moment Like This", reached 50,000 downloads in just 30 minutes and reached the top spot for about four weeks. In February 2007, Lewis agreed to sign a five-album deal with the United States with Clive Davis's label, J Records. Lewis kept her momentum going by releasing Spirit which was her debut studio album. The album was platinum 10x and certified by the UK. The album was the fourth album to be sold in the 2000, and was also one of the top-selling UK albums. Based on the Official Charts Company, Spirit is the highest-seller debut album released by female artists at the turn of the century. "Bleeding Love", the lead single from the album, was No. 1 in the UK for seven weeks. It also was the UK's best-selling single. The single was the top-selling in 2008, as well. Lewis received the Billboard Award for the Best New Artist. Echo was her second studio album. She also wrote the song "I See You" to accompany Avatar. Lewis was also the first to release "Collide," a joint effort in collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii. In 2011 , she also released Hurt an extended performance on her EP debut. Glassheart (2012) was her third album of studio work. The album was inspired by electronic and dubstep music. Lewis began recording music for her Christmas debut album in the course of her Glassheart Tour, which took between mid-2013. The Christmas album, with Love came out in the latter half of 2013. The album's first single, One More Sleep, came in at the number three spot on the charts in the UK. Through this chart entry, Lewis became the first British female solo artist in the top five with eight singles. She beat Olivia Newton-John's record set by seven.
