McCormack is a native of Connecticut, born into a family with no entertainment connections in any way to her family tree, was the daughter of a clinical therapist and the owner of an ice cream parlor. Her acting career started at the age of 12 when she was a part of a stage production of 'Amahl and The Night Visitors, an opera for Christmas. At the beginning of her career, she was just 12 years old when she was on stage for the opera "Amahl's Night Visitor".
