Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American singer-actress and former model. Her most well-known work is her performance in Prince's 1984 movie Purple Rain as well as being the singer-in-chief of Apollonia 6, a girl group. Apollonia was christened as an actress and female singer by Prince. Through the 1980s she was among several other performers who gained from Prince. She was born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959, her professional career began as a model and actress by the end of the '70s and included an appearance on the television show CHiPS. In 1984, Patricia Kotero was a part of the main woman in the movie Prince's Purple Rain. (During this period of time, he changed her name.) Her replacement was Vanity of the female group Vanity 6 who performed in the movie with Apollonia 6 under their name. Sex Shooter, the group's minor-hit song from the soundtrack was her most chart-topping hit. Kotero's relationship with Prince was ended after the two were at odds over the direction she was taking in her career. Apollonia 6, the organization she was a part of was split. After appearing in minor films (and reportedly refusing to participate in The Purple Rain film Under the Cherry Moon) She was part of the 1985-1986 nighttime drama Falcon Crest. Apollonia began her professional debut in 1988. The album, R&B/Dance that was pretty pedestrian and failed to make a big impression with those who bought music at the at the time, soon vanished. Through the years the singer-songwriter remained an active actress, playing minor roles in films and small TV shows. Apollonia's Stay With Me album came out in 1997. When she returned to school she earned the degree of a bachelor in filmmaking and established her own business. Apollonia is an incredibly talented woman. She was a model, actress, as well as manager of talent. The part she played as an actress in the 1984 film Purple Rain made her a celebrity.
